A one day workshop on the guitar technique of John Renbourn
Join us at Cecil Sharp House in London on September 22nd 2016 for this workshop to coincide with the tribute concert for John being held there that evening
(see http://www.cecilsharphouse.org/csh-whats-on?length=month&date=2016-09-30 ).
This workshop will be a sampler of John’s wonderful guitar playing technique and will draw on the content of the series of residential workshops which John so loved to host in the years running up to the end of his life.
Tutors will be RGW's Remy Froissart and Mike Walker, both specialists in the transcription and teaching of Renbourn guitar music as well as being long-time friends of John’s who assisted him in the delivery of guitar workshops across Europe since 2010.
Many examples to illustrate the Renbourn approach to playing, writing and arranging across many styles which John himself prepared in collaboration with Mike and Remy specifically for teaching will be made available to attending guitarists in Tab and notation.
The workshop will comprise 2 sessions – 10am to 1.00pm and 2.00pm to 5.00pm.
Cecil Sharpe House has a canteen where lunch/refreshments may be bought.
The workshop will aim to suit all levels of fingerstyle player – the ability to fingerpick and read tablature are the only requirements.
Intermediate to advanced fingerstyle players are likely to draw the most benefit from the day but developing guitarists are also sure to gain some interesting directions to follow in their playing.
Cost for the day - £65.00
Teaching materials will be sent out by email to students ahead of the event.
